Business Owner & Director
Born in the North East, Martin studied Business Management at Sunderland Business School followed by Economics at Kings College Cambridge. He joined Bang & Olufsen in 2004 and after becoming Managing Director in 2009, Martin ultimately purchased the Newcastle and Yarm businesses.
At the same time, he opened Wakefields Smarter Home Technology, a sister company, to install home automation systems that compliment the Bang & Olufsen brand into homes and hotels across the North East. If you find Martin onsite helping to install your system it’s because he’s a certified installer for all the brands we offer.
His hobbies have always been in music and electronics; as a musician he became Lead Violinist for the county orchestra, became Head Chorister for a renewed choir performing at venues from the Royal Albert Hall to York Minster, and spent 15 years as a professional DJ performing across the UK - yes really!
Kirsty joined the team in 2016 and helps make sure our team, showroom as well as installation visits run as smoothly as possible. Her background in recruitment allows her people skills to really shine, especially since Bang & Olufsen’s clientbase is so incredibly diverse. Her favourite part of the job - that not a single day is ever the same.
Wakefield's Sales Manager
With over 15 years experience in the Bang & Olufsen brand and the AV industry, Brett has been our Yarm showroom manager since 2000, but now he is expanding into field sales and will be looking to work with Interior Designers, private and commercial projects and anything of the sort to show how Wakefield's can transform any space into a WOW factor. Brett has a great wealth of knowledge and experience of both Wakefield's and Bang & Olufsen so whether this is to add a Home Cinema or the Latest TV and audio he can certainly help.
Newcastle Store Manager
With a background in music production and a qualification in sound engineering, David has always had a passion for audio visual technology. He joined Bang & Olufsen in September 2000, and during his time with Bang & Olufsen, David has carried out various roles across the company. Today, he runs our Newcastle store and is often the one responsible for all the incredible 1980s playlist you hear in the showroom!
Technical Support Manager
Kevin started in our Durham branch in 2004 after being recommended by one of our clients. His previous retail background combined with his wealth of knowledge regarding Bang & Olufsen products has made him an intricate part of our team. As Technical Support Manager he’s your go-to guy for any questions you may have about your TV or sound system. You can find him in both our Yarm and Newcastle showrooms. He’ll also answer any of your technical tweets from @beonewcastle.
Andrew has made a fantastic addition to our installations team. Andrew has over 10 years experience working in electrics and installs and his expertise in this field made him the perfect candidate for Wakefield's. In addition to his installations work he is also working on business development and is a great point of contact for prospective clients.
Sales and Service Administrator
Amy joined our team in 2018 and spends her time looking after the Newcastle showroom alongside David, ensuring all administration work is up to date to make sure daily life runs smoothly. Amy comes from a Marketing background and will be looking after all our Social Media and is the go to lady for any social influencing or marketing prospects - but most importantly, shes always there for a good cup of tea and a chat.
